Neyshabur. Tomb of Al-Qushayri

Mountain on paper painted
I forgot upon the snow...
In the evening wind on casement
Drawing brought, and window froze.

"Maybe I am hour's spell,
Or maybé amid the walls
I am some enchanted well..."
Window whispered, "Hither go..!"

To the pane I came not loud,
Tracery I see:
Trees are climbing up the mount,
On the summit - tower of brick...

"O the frozen, calling glass,
I am one in shadow clad,
I am asking, let me pass..."
-    Thou mayst, the window said.

I had stepped in well, and fell,
In the song dissolved as sound...
In illusive room I am
In the tower on mount.

Scholar: Here is the tomb
Of times of yore,
From window here is seen the moon.
What are you looking for?

Me: From window frozen mine I took
The ornament, I want to put
It on this Shrine...

Scholar: Yes, I accept this gift!
For thee narration this:

I heard Mansur Al-Maghribi was saying:
One of them saw Al-Khadir, peace be upon him,
and asked him, "Have you ever seen
anyone above you?"
He answered: Yes, once Abd Al-Razzaq bin
Humam was relating the stories on prophet at
Medina, and men around him were listening...
And I saw a youth aloof sitting, his head on his knees.
I told him, "O thou, Abd Al-Razzaq is recounting
the stories on the messenger of God, be he
blessed, and you are not listening, why?"
He replied, "He is telling about the dead,
while I am always with God."
Then I asked, "If it is so,
As you are saying, then who am I?"
He raised his head and did reply,
"Thou art my brother Abu l'Abbas Al-Khadir."
So I realized that God
has servants whom I do not know.
Al-Qushayri

Each gate does ask,
Reply and say to pass...

Explanation: The trial is question, so
Can you resolve?

The Lord trieth the righteous.
Psalm 11:5

To pass you need
The courage and folded wings.

The best Sufi ethic is modesty,
there is no better raiment than modesty.
Umar Suhrawardi

Verily, He likes not the proud.
Qur'an 16:23

The absence of answer
Is also the answer.

Explanation: For the ship of self-conceit
Undersea there is a reef -
All-Knowing is only God.

Me: What in this case to do?

Scholar: In God all trust to put:

ارجعوا إلى ربكم، يعني ارجعوا
سلموا الكل إليه

Return to your Lord:
the meaning of "return" -
entrust everything to God.
Al-Jilani

Said moon eclipsed:
I have deserved abode
That Names reflect in me,
I am the mirror standing close...

So He joined the two heights for us:
elevation of place by deed,
and elevation of rank by knowledge.¹
Ibn 'Arabi

The name I called,
And image has emerged upon
The water...

He who knows names knows also
the things which are expressed by them.
Plato

Explanation: Rank of Name -
A step upon the staircase.

allied to the cause of all, and is the cause
of a greater number of effects.
Proclus

Maze of fog, all doors are shut,
If you find, do knock, but fog
Only seen in mirror, but
Mirror this - on rock unknown...

To God belong the angels straying in
the light of His splendour and beauty, they
are in constant contemplation, tasting.
They don't even know that God
created anyone beside them, never they
also turn to themselves.²
Ibn 'Arabi

At night upon the glass He cast
His glimpse...

I am the way, and the truth, and the life:
no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.
