Talk with the Pond of Cane

O ye base clouds, where do ye sail,
Carrying these sacks full of rain?
Or maybe 'tis tears of those
Whose heart was broken, who groan..?
And crows, why do you shout so loud?
Because the grass of summer got brown?
And autumn winds blow off the leaves
From the sad and trembling trees...
And this pond where grows cane
Asking me, "Where is thy crane?"
She - to whom you sang the songs
At the sunset and at dawn."
-   She has been taken by the haze;
Somewhere in fog she gone astray.
-   Then fly to her and find her there,
For she needs indeed thy care;
For she is thy angel of the flying wave,
Together ye and she will be again.
-   But how can I outstrip the time,
How can I cross the ocean vast as sky?
-   You should soar like ray of sun,
Driving night away, dispelling slumber dun.
-   But I cannot fly so fast,
Do bestow on me the wings of stars...
-   Pray to God, 'tis He who grants.
