Elfin Birthday
Silvery fishes carry glitter
Of the moon through night of ocean,
Flowing from the heaven's river,
They are envoys and the delegation
Of the luna and her glimmer,
To announce that she will be
A guest tonight on the Isle of glee.
Lightning bugs on airy wings
Fly and hie at night, for they
Are heralds of the stars - the gleams,
To say, that they will take
Part in repast and celebration.
For one Elf was born today -
Day of exultation.
Wayward winds from the four sides
Sent the larks to hail and say,
"We shall arrive
On canoe with blue light sail
To the sunny elfin Isle."
Thereat the flowers sing
Merry ditties of the Spring;
Thereat starfishes shine
Under water on the ground,
Gallant seamen them aspy,
And deem that they are stars, somehow
Fallen from the shore of sky...
Today is joy, today regale,
Sweet Elf was born, - the queen
Of night and flying waves.
In grove of songs she lives
Forever young on Isle of sun,
Where dwelleth Summer breeze.
