To Senait Gidey
O gentle Houri, please say,
From which dell of heaven did ye come?
When dawn reflected in a lake,
The sky proclaimed, "Step forth, O daughter of the sun
And lake, thy name be Bliss and Shine."
The purity of morning dream, a gleam
Of amber, and enigma of the agate did combine
In thee, sweet Peri - lady of Firdous. These
White lilies are for you; The moon
Tonight is also thine, her rhymes repeat,
"O Senait! O lovely Senait!" But look
At her reflex at pond, and listen, listen to her songs...
