Ordibehésht
اُردیبهشت
جسم خاک از عشق بر افلاک شد
کوه در رقص آمد و چالاک شد
Earthy bodies to the skies from love soared,
Rock in dance went, briskly hopped.
Rumi, Masnavi 1:25
Vernal rills the joy brought,
Clouds almond in the sky float
Like the boats of dreamers, they
A haven seek in creek safe.
Maybe angel's song, or maybe not,
Maybe echo in far-off disport;
But some tune the brooks dye'd,
Wind some melody repeats, fly...
Drunken doves in puddles bathe,
Crows on them gaze with blame...
How far to be the lovers from
The common birds; as sots
They flutter, chant and dance,
Onlookers them not understand...
Ray of sun, ray shining, light
On my heart thy name inscribed.
Do you hear a tabor-drum,
Spring is here, Spring has come;
Let's dance together, you and me
At this rhythmic cheerful melody.
