Neyshabur. The Garden of Stones
نیشابور. باغ سنگها

I took ewer with lucid water,
Watered window in my room...
Someone then at morn upón it
Wrote the letter Nun ن.

The ink-pot I put on table,
And had writ Alif...
"I am fathomless, the wáy to
Me - through Lam onlý."
Said then Alif...

I left tavern, went to seek
In the thicket thick a lane;
But the snow - too drowsy, deep...
I returned to former state.

I went to seek amid the stones -
'Mid words unclear, blear, black...
My traces tangled on the snow,
At last the master I have met.

Scholar: The scroll you brought to me in this
Garden of forgotten stones, -
I now unroll it, see:

And no one knoweth the Son,
save the Father; neither doth any know
the Father, save the Son,
and he to whomsoever the Son
willeth to reveal him.
Matthew 11:27

هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ

He is the First and the Last,
the Manifest and the Concealed.
Qur'an 57:3

Albeit, for thee the river's shell,
But hearken, what it tell:

ابراهيم بن ادهم رأى فى البادية رجلا علمه
«اسم الله الأعظم» فدعا به بعده، فراى الخضر
عليه السلام، وقال له: إنما علمك اخى داود
اسم الله الأعظم. اخبرنا بذلك الشيخ
أبو عبد الرحمن السلمى، رحمه الله

Ibrahim bin Adham saw in
the desert a man who taught him
the greatest Name of God. He then
uttered this Name, and saw Al-Khadir,
on him be peace, who told him:
My brother King David has just taught
you the greatest Name of God.
'Twas related to us by Sheikh
Abu Abd Al-Rahman Al-Sulami, may God
have mercy on him.

I asked Eternity, "What be
The place where Thou write on paper Name?"
"Where you and Me onlý,"
Eternity did say...

ماههنا إلا الخالق عز وجل، فإن كنت
مع الخالق فأنت عبده، وإن كنت مع
الخلق فأنت عبدهم لا كلام لك حتى
تقطع الفيافي والقفار من حيث قلبك

Here is only the Creator, great
and majestic is He, if ye are with
the Creator, - then ye are His servant; But
if ye are with the creatures, then ye are
their servant. No speech will be for ye
unless ye cross the wolds and deserts
with your heart.

We drink from it, and change, and change...

وعلمُ معانى الأسماء والصفات،
تعريف الأخلاق وباطن أحكام الذات

The knowledge is: the meaning of
divine Names and qualities, the knowledge
of ethics, and inward terms of entity.
Al-Makki

Me: Please tell on Names...

Scholar: Ren¹ - expression of itself...
I asked the Name, "What is in you?"
"I am!" Has answered Depth;
In Name Itself reveals the Nun.

والاسم في اصطلاح الصوفية ليس هو اللفظ،
بل هو الذات المسمى باعتبار صفة وجودية
كالعليم والقديم، أو عدمية كالقدوس والسلام

According to the terms of Sufism, the name
is not just a word, but the entity named,
expressing existing qualities, as the Knowing,
the Ancient; or abstract qualities as
the Holy, the Peace.
Al-Qashani

"Drink me!" To me the vessel said,
"I am the Name and way, I have
The water bottomless; you shall
Aught from me receive, it will
Be thine..."

Значит имя, которое просит сообщить
клазоменец, есть символ сущности.

So, the name which a man of Clazomenae
asks to impart is the symbol of entity.
Proclus

Such names of the Gods² as are adapted
to sacred concerns, and other divine symbols,
are able, as they are of an anagogic or
elevating nature, to connect invocations with
the Gods themselves.
