Konya. The Recollections

I put milky sleepy stone
On the table made of oak.

- In the orchard on the hill
Whom you sought in Autumn chill?
I am recollection, say!

"Long it was, I sought the haze..."

- But what for the fog you need?

"For my boat the sail to weave."
Then I added yellow, "What
In you, that I forgot?"

- Pond of goose behind the church...

Then I took the lunar piece.

- What in me, ask after six...

At the window gridded knocked
Someone, I have opened door.

Dervish: I have brought remembrance, may
I share and partake?

Me: Certainly, come in!

Turkish kettle then he took
From the shabby bag and put.

Me: For the nonce a box I have
Of tea Azeri black...

Dervish: How well, my kettle old
Among your stones -
Past in the past...

And he began to paint with brush,
Reciting thus:

فعل و قول و صدق شد قُوتِ ملَک
تا بدین معراج شد سوی فلک

The angel's feed is deed, sincerity and speech,
Ascends to heaven he by means of it.
Rumi, Masnavi 3:4187

Dervish: I whilom used to drink from it,
And now 'tis your stones amid -
The olden pond of reed...

Me: And here, maybé, amid the stones
The travellers shall find repose...

Dervish: The reed doth murmur here:

فقد روينا عن حَمِيدٍ عن أنسٍ قال:
مُقابلُ عرشِ الرحمن غرفةٌ يُرسَل إليها
جبريل عليه السلام، فإذا انتهى إليها
خرّ لله ساجداً، ثم يقول: يا ربّ لمن
خلقت هذه، لأىّ نبىّ، لأىّ صدِّيق،
لأىّ شهيد؟ قال: فيرد عليه عزّ وجلّ:
لمن آثر هواىَ على هواه

Related by Hamid from Anas:
In front of Rahman's throne there is
a chamber. Archangel Gabriel, peace be
upon him, was sent thither; on having thence
returned, before God he prostrated himself,
said, "O Lord, for whom hast Thou made
it? For which prophet, or truthful one, or
martyr?" Responded God, exalted and great,
"For the one who prefered the desire of
Mine over his."
Al-Makki

God designates a place of Gate
Which be the mystery of place.
Don't say, "I wish I would..."

من تقدم من الأولياء والأبدال أن يفنوا
عن إرادتهم وتبدل بإرادة الحق عز وجل

The foremost of Elects and Abdal abolish
their desires for the desire of God,
majestic and great is He.
Al-Jilani

Although a cup of tea let's have!
