Lahore. The Walled City
اندرونِ شہر لہور
I began to count beads:
One - the path. I opened lids:
Wall by wall are creeping, so
On this narrow path I go...
Then I count, "Number two!"
Passage answered in Urdu...
Then by rook a move I made,
And had crossed a long passway.
Passage answered in a rhyme,
"This another narrow try!"
Well, I count, "Number three!"
Found the words I couldn't read.
Then I slid in deep recess...
"Lost upon the board of chess!"
Said the voice. "The four" I count;
Ornament I see around...
- I am the mystery of bead,
Let me reflect upon the sheet!
The writing book I took, and gave,
The words in order lay on page:
و وی را [ابو عبدالله محمد بن علی التّرمذی]
مناقب بسیار است. یکی از آن جمله آن که
با خضر پیغمبر علیه السّلام صحبت داشته بود
و ابو بکر وراق ترمدی که مرید وی بود روایت
کند که: هر یک شنبه خضر به نزدیک وی
آمدی و واقعه‌ها از یکدیگر بپرسیدندی
He [Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ali
Al-Tirmidhi] had many merits. One of them,
that he conversed with prophet Khadir,
peace be upon hin. Abu Bakr Warraq Tirmidi, -
the disciple of Al-Tirmidhi, relates:
Khadir used to visit him every Sunday,
and they asked each other the tidings.

Pir: To get the key you should reply.
Me: Well, I will try...
Pir: What do you need to rear the Gate?
Me: The time and place.
Pir: From Gate what be?
Me: Inheritance and dignity...
Pir: Inheritance obtained?
Me: Completely learned the lore of place.
Pir: Receive the key:
وكان أبو بكر الورّاق يمنع أصحابه عن الأسفار
والسياحات ويقول مفتاح كل بركة الصبر في
موضع إرادتك إلى أن تصحَّ لك الإرادة، فإن
صَحت لك الإرادة، فقد ظهرت عليك أوئل البركة
Abu Bakr Al-Warraq used to prohibit his
companions from journeys and trips. He said:
The key to every blessing is patience in the
place of thy desire, until thy desire to be
fulfilled. And when what was desired from thee
[by God] is fulfilled, the first traces of
blessing will appear on thee.
