Lahore. A Vagrant Merchant
"Sundry vials, spiderweb,
The embroidered motley mat!"
Vagrant merchant calling seems,
Three or four o'clock between.
I took lantern; Narrow path
Stretches as a vowel does...
"Beads of beans..." I hear the voice,
"Beads of dreams..." Repeat the walls.
To crossroads the passage led...
Merchant: Buy these vials, or perhaps,
Beads of beans..?
I gave all I had for these.
Through the glassy vial I looked
On the moon above the roof...
- I am ray confined in glass,
What in me the master cast -
I do keep...
Me: Share with me, please...
Ray:
وقال بشر بن الحارث: دخلت الدار فإذا أنا برجل،
فقلت: من أنت؟ دخلت دارى بغير إذنى، فقال:
أخوك الخضر. فقلت: ادع الله لى. فقال: هون
الله عليك طاعته؛ زدنى، فقال: وسترها عليك.
Bishr bin Al-Harith told: I entered
my house, and found a man there.
I asked, "Who art thou? My house
you entered without my permission!"
He replied, "I am thy brother Al-Khadir."
Then I said, "Pray for me to God!"
He responded, "God hath made your
obedience easy to Him." I asked,
"Increase!" He responded, "God concealed
your obedience from thee."

Then I see: From window empty
Is moving tó me figure-phantom...
Pir: Look upon this broken glass,
From your ray a fragment hath
Reflected there:
فقال: أخوك الخضر
I am thy brother Al-Khadir
Wizard: Shadow with a shadow speak,
In thy rank I came to greet!
Ибо дом и есть символ чина.
For "a house" is the symbol of rank.

Pir: At another shiver look:
Wizard: To encourage I came, that
Yourself you shall exert
Further to ascend!
Точно так же весь род ангелов всегда
остаётся благим и наполняет последующее
божественным участием.
In the same way the whole kind of
angels remains always good, and fills
the next with divine participation.

Pir: The epilogue of story this -
Upon the golden leaf:
One of them met Khadir, and asked:
قلت: فما تقول فى بشر بن الحارث الحافى؟
فقال: لم يخلق بعده مثله
I asked: What would you say about
Bishr bin Al-Harith Al-Hafi?
He replied: After him no one has been
created like him.
