Journey to Lahore
سفر به لہور
At the window wind all wet
Knocked, "I walk with empty hands..."
How's that! I went to look,
On the table left the book.
Fallen leaves I gathered, "Take!"
Wind had caught, a circle made.
For myself the yellow took, -
I shall write on it "Adieu!"
- "Maybe" better write instead!
A few stories only yet
Unrelated left...
Dervish called me from nowhere.
Me: Would you share?
Dervish: Willingly...
From David, peace be upon him: [God
said:] Say to My servants searching for
My love: No wrong if ye conceal yourself
from my creatures, I shall raise a veil
between Me and ye, so ye will see Me with
the eyes of your heart. No wrong, if
aught of this world I stole from ye, when
I spread My faith for ye. Misdeeds
of creatures will make ye no wrong, as
My contentment ye seek.
Al-Makki
Where God the gate shall put? -
Where they turned with gratitude.
وقال ابن عطاء الله: الرضا سكون القلب
إلى قديم اختيار الله للعبد؟ لأنه اختار
له الأفضل فيرضى له وهو ترك السخط
Ibn 'Ata Allah said: The Contentment is
the serenity of heart regarding the choice of
God for the servant. Why? Because He hath
chosen the best for him, so
this servant will be glad, and thus
the wrath abates.

Me: For them who value not, what be
The remedy?
Dervish: A loss...
Me: To the reverse
Of moon what is the path?
Dervish: The nocturnal stone ask!
Me: Where to seek the breath?
Dervish: The very month it has...
Me: And they who missed?
Dervish: They lag behind in the degrees...
Me: The formula of way?
Dervish: Look always for the ray:
〈فَالْتَمِسُوا نُورًا〉: بتحصيل المعارف
الإلهيّة، والأخلاق الفاضلة، والأعمال
الصالحة، فإنّ النور يتولّد منها
"Seek the light" - by obtaining the knowledge
divine, the right conduct, the virtuous deeds,
for the light is born thereof.

"The time is come to turn the wheel!
Tomorrow, when the raven will
Shout..." The last I heard.
From rain I hurried to the cot.
Before sunrise the time I have,
I took the lunar stone from shelf.
Stone sable, say to me,
What the hour of night in thee?
- I am petrified the forth,
Entrance-emblem of reverse...
How can I enter that?
- In the mirror standing step...
Into image odd I strode
In the mirror; bitter cold
From a sudden wind I felt;
On the stony surface fell;
Yet methinks the cliffs I hear,
Mutter, "Darkness straying here..."
I began to grope, a voice
Called me, "Do not make a noise!"
So with silence I have blent,
Gently gliding as a pen
On the paper; Yet they say,
"We are stationary waves..."
I have pass'd the cliffs; Abyss
Broke the motion skimming this.
Tower tall upon the edge,
At the door I knocked, the latch
Opened, let me in:
On the wall a lot of blazon-shields...
The Hooded one: They are the meed
For servitude to God!
